Νωρίτερα η αστυνομία του Καπιτωλίου μέσω αναρτήσεών της στο Twitter, ανέφερε ότι «θα πρέπει να αναζητήσουν καταφύγιο», λόγω της αναφοράς για παρουσία ενόπλου.
Η αστυνομία του Καπιτωλίου δήλωσε ότι «οι αξιωματικοί της ερευνούν μέσα και γύρω από τα κτίρια γραφείων της Γερουσίας ως απάντηση σε μια ανησυχητική κλήση στο 911».
